A band that one day were small and the next day were massive while nobody really noticed it happening, Western Australians Tame Impala make it back to Berlin, moving on from Comet Club where they played their last show (photos) here, into Festsaal where they can really get the crowd they deserve and the space to stretch their music out into the epic sound it potentially can be.
After touring internationally with MGMT last year, and being declared by Pitchfork, in an unusal display of good taste, as ‘best new music’ with Innerspeaker getting an 8.5, the evidence is there that the kids are really going to be very massive very soon. New album permitting, that is.
Their new record is hopefully out this year and it would be surprising if none of the new songs get an airing during the gig here in Berlin. If the new LP is all that it can be, then don’t be surprised if next year you’re going to be seeing TI play Columbia Club or bigger.
